Independent Engineer, Pat Raleigh, a Professional Engineer registered in Ontario in 1964, a life member of the Canadian Institute of Mining & Metallurgy and Graduate of the University of Manitoba is a well qualified and valued member of the team. Retired from Falconbridge Nickel Mines Ltd (now Xstrata) after thirty five years as Chief Engineer, he consulted for Falconbridge’s business development group up until 2004.
As project engineer for the design and construction of the Falcondo laterite plant in the Dominican Republic which started in 1970 Pat then was regularly involved in the operating and expansion plans for the plant. He was also engaged in the more recent Falconbridge Koniambo project in New Caledonia.
Pat carried out consulting assignments for Inco Indonesia, Cerro Matosso in Colombia and other New Caledonian projects and spent a significant amount of time studying the nickel deposits in S.E. Asia, particularly those in New Caledonia, Indonesia, Australia and the Philippines. The projects involved all three operational types HPAL, High Temperature Pyro Processes, and Ammonia Leach systems. Most recently he’s consulted for Jaguar Nickel on their laterite project in Guatemala C.A developing a leach process that used HCl.
Pat spent time with the Drinkard group in Charlotte on the design and construction planning of the pilot plant for the Nucor’s E.A.F dust project which incorporated several processing steps that are similar to those in the DNi Process. |
